Indiana High School Sophomores and Juniors, and their parents, who are interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy should attend one of three Dick Lugar Academy Day events. Sessions will be held in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and New Albany.

The events are designed to educate high school sophomores and juniors about the various military academies (high school seniors have already begun the process for admission next year). Representatives from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard academies will attend. Students also can receive information about ROTC programs and Indiana National Guard opportunities.

Starting Monday, August 25th, Troop 60 will begin the Eagle required “Communications Merit Badge”.

Assistant Scoutmaster Frank Turner took on a BIG project this year. He has successfully restored the “Indian Jim” gate that used to be located at Camp Redwing in Selma, Indiana. Indian Jim will be returned this fall for display at Camp Redwing. Way to go Frank!

Aug 4

September 6th and 7th - Fall Archery Shoot at the Farmland Conservation Club. Troop 60 needs volunteers to run the concession stand. This is a fundraising opportunity for your scout, please plan on signing up!

September 14th @ 4pm - Dylan Oliphant’s Eagle Court of Honor at the Parker United Methodist Church in Parker City, In. Scouts need to be in their Class A uniforms.

September 24th @ 4pm - Troop 60 Court of Honor at the Farmland Conservation Club Building. Please bring a covered dish or dessert. The main dish and drinks will be provided. Scouts need to be in their Class A uniforms.

October 3rd, 4th and 5th - Fall Camporee at the New Castle Park.

October 10th, 11th and 12th - Civil War Days in Hartford City. We will need volunteers to work the gates for the event.

The Eagle Court of Honor for Dylan Oliphant has been moved to September 14th at 4pm at the Parker United Methodist Church. Refreshments will follow the C.O.H. in the Fellowship Hall.
