Boy Scout Troop 50 recently held a flag retirement ceremony at the Parker City part on Friday, September 30th, 2006. After setting up camp for the overnight stay, the public was invited to attend the event at 8pm. Over 15 flags were retired in the ceremony.

The first flag retired

The boys salute flags as they are retired
When the United States flag (Old Glory) becomes worn, torn, faded or badly soiled, it is time to replace it with a new flag, and the old flag should be “retired” with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation’s flag. The traditional method of retirement is to incinerate the flag, but this does not mean that one should simply drop the entire flag (intact) into a fire. Today we are not burning a flag we are retiring a symbol of America’s honor, courage, and strength.
